Trail etiquette

Waterton Lakes National Park

Trails are shared in Waterton Lakes National Park, which means you could see people cross-country skiing while you are snowshoeing, or fat biking while you are hiking.

Thanks for respecting our trails and keeping them safe for all to enjoy:

  • Do not walk, snowshoe or ride on groomed ski trails
  • Keep dogs on a leash and under control at all times. Keep them off groomed ski trails
  • Skiers and snowshoers going uphill should yield to those going downhill
  • Yield to other users when cycling
  • Leave no trace – pack out your garbage
  • Do not approach wildlife. If you see a wild animal, give it lots of space and observe from a distance
  • Obey area closures
