Pursuant to section 7(1) of the general regulations of the canada national parks act, use of motorized watercraft, and trailers used to launch any watercraft, is restricted to users meeting the following requirements:

1) The motorized watercraft1 has been attached (sealed) to the trailer by way of a quarantine seal(2).
2) The quarantine seal has been attached to the vessel and trailer by a staff member of the Waterton Shoreline Cruise Company.
3) The quarantine seal has been in place for a minimum of 90 days.
4) Prior to launching, the quarantine seal has been inspected and removed by a staff member of the Waterton Shoreline Cruise Company.

These restrictions apply at all times to civilian motorized watercraft on the following watercourses in Waterton Lakes National Park:

Upper Waterton Lake
Middle Waterton Lake

Civilian motorized watercraft are PROHIBITED on all other watercourses in Waterton Lakes National Park.

The use of a trailer to launch civilian watercraft is PROHIBITED on all other watercourses in Waterton Lakes National Park.

Agency(3) and local commercial motorized watercraft(4) that operate solely in Waterton Lakes National Park, and the associated watercraft trailers, are permitted on the Waterton Lakes and Cameron Lake upon approval by park management.

(1) Includes gas and electric motors.
(2) Detachable electric motors are exempt from the 90-day quarantine. They do require inspection, decontamination, and a launch permit obtained at the Watercraft Inspection Station before launching in Upper or Middle Waterton Lakes.

Border Protection, RCMP.
