Response to Parliamentary Committees
*Government Response to the "Report on the Implementation of the Heritage Lighthouse Protection Act"* (response tabled in the Senate of Canada in March 2012).** Prepared jointly by Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Parks Canada, the Government response to the recommendations provided in the Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans (Senate SCOFO) "Report on the Implementation of the Heritage Lighthouse Protection Act" (March 2011) underscored the Government's recognition of the importance to stakeholders of preserving Canada's historic lighthouses as symbols of our coastal communities and our maritime heritage. The response outlined the measures that the Government has taken to effectively implement the Act and identified new initiatives based on the Senate SCOFO's recommendations.
