International Women's Day

Dear colleagues,

On March 8, Parks Canada joins people around the world in marking International Women’s Day, under the theme: “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls”. This day is an opportunity to recognize the contributions, resilience, and achievements of women and girls, and to reflect on how we can continue to advance equity, inclusion, and respect in our workplace and communities.

This year’s theme is a call to dismantle the legal and social barriers that limit women’s rights and to take sustained action to make justice meaningful in everyday life. At Parks Canada, this theme reminds us that justice begins at home — in how we collaborate, how decisions are made, and how opportunities are shared. Ensuring fair and equitable access to meaningful work, leadership pathways, safety, and respect strengthens not only individual well‑being, but the health and effectiveness of our entire organization.

We are proud to have an active Network for Women Employees, with more than 400 members and allies, creating spaces for learning, connection, and support. These efforts reflect our shared responsibility to foster a work environment where women, girls, and gender‑diverse people feel welcome, valued, and supported to succeed.

Finally, we invite you to share your voice as part of a collective message for International Women’s Day. You can participate by submitting either a photo or a short reflection on why celebrating International Women’s Day is important to you. Please send your contribution by email by Friday, March 6. Photos and messages will be compiled and shared with colleagues. For more information, visit ParksNet.

Happy International Women’s Day!
