Announcement – Deployment of Sharon Hayes – Director, Law Enforcement

Hello everyone,

I am pleased to announce the deployment of Sharon Hayes to the position of Director, Law Enforcement within the Protected Areas Establishment and Conservation Directorate, effective October 13, 2026.

Sharon began her career with Parks Canada in 1996 as a summer student and later became a National Park Warden in Nahanni National Park Reserve. Over the course of her 30-year career, she has held a variety of operational and executive leadership roles across the organization, including Manager of Resource Conservation, Park Superintendent, and Field Unit Superintendent for both the Southern New Brunswick and Northern Ontario Field Units. In these positions, she has led complex operations, supported new park establishment initiatives, and strengthened relationships with Indigenous partners. Over the past two years, Sharon has also acted as Executive Director, Operations, for two different regions, formerly known as the Prairies and Northwest Territories Region and the Ontario and Waterways Region.

Sharon holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Saskatchewan and a Master of Science from Royal Roads University.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Stephen Braham for his dedication to Parks Canada’s mandate. Stephen left Parks Canada on August 6, 2026.

Please join me in congratulating Sharon and wishing her every success in her new role.

Andrew Campbell

Interim President & Chief Executive Officer
