September 10 – World Suicide Prevention Day

Content Warning: Suicide Prevention

This message discusses suicide and suicide prevention, which may be difficult or triggering for some. Please take care of yourself and access support if needed.

Hello everyone,

Today, September 10 is World Suicide Prevention Day, let’s take a moment to reflect on the importance of mental health and supporting one another.

Giving space for conversations about mental health can make a meaningful difference. A simple check-in, listening without judgment, or asking, “How are you doing?” can help create a workplace where people feel safe reaching out.

Support is available

If you or someone you know is struggling, support is available:

  • For mental health and well-being supports for Black Canadians: BREATHE – 1-800-917-0272. To view the information in French, please click on "Translate" at the bottom of the page on the left.
  • Hope for Wellness Helpline: Confidential, culturally appropriate support for Indigenous peoples.
  • 988 Suicide Crisis Helpline: Call or text 988 for free, confidential, 24/7 support across Canada.

You don’t have to wait until the situation becomes overwhelming to reach out. Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Today, take a moment to care for our well-being and to check in on those around us. Together, let’s continue to foster a workplace where mental health can be discussed openly and where no one has to face difficult moments alone.
