Message from Michael Sabia: Tragedy at CFB Wainwright / Message de Michael Sabia : Tragédie à la BFC Wainwright

We are all saddened by this weekend’s tragic incident at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright in Alberta – one of the most severe peacetime losses suffered by our military on home soil.

My deepest condolences go to the families, friends and loved ones of those who lost their lives in service to Canada.

This heartbreaking event is a reminder of the dedication of all who serve in the Canadian Forces and of the sacrifices made by their families. Every day, the men and women of Canada’s military are ready to go above and beyond to protect our national security and to defend Canada’s sovereignty. They are a lesson in service for all of us.

On behalf of Canada’s public service, I extend my personal gratitude to the military personnel, emergency responders, healthcare professionals and to all those working tirelessly in response to this tragic event.

My thoughts and prayers are with the injured and their families, and with all the members of Canada’s Armed Forces.

Michael Sabia

Clerk of the Privy Council and Secretary to the Cabinet
