The Forks National Historic Site

The Forks National Historic Site offers many modern amenities in a beautiful natural setting in the heart of downtown Winnipeg.

Accessible facilities

The Forks National Historic Site, located in a prairie environment, is generally flat. Visitors can expect the possibility of snow between October and April.

There are graded gravel paths on-site.

Visitors can access the riverwalk by ramp. One access point is located near the Amphitheatre and the other is located near the Oodena Celebration Circle. There may be times when the riverwalk is not accessible due to high water levels.

Bank/ATM

ATMs are located at the Johnston Terminal and in The Forks Market.

Food services

The Forks Market and Johnston Terminal offer an array of food services, from groceries and food courts to elegant dining.

The Forks National Historic Site is a special place where people have been gathering for over 6,000 years. Today, The Forks is a beautiful natural space located in the heart of Winnipeg with picturesque views of the city. It is the perfect place for your next event.

Parking

There are several parking lots at The Forks, all of which are operated by The Forks North Portage Corporation. Please be sure to note how long you are permitted to park since the lots are regularly checked by a parking patrol.

Bus parking is managed by the The Forks North Portage Corporation. Please contact them directly to make your arrangements.

Picnic area

Enjoy a picnic in the green spaces of The Forks National Historic Site. Picnic tables are conveniently located in the centre field and near Fort Parka.

Playground

Ideal for kids two to 12, Fort Parka is an experiential park for children.

Public telephones

Telephones are located at the Orientation Circle, The Forks Market and Johnston Terminal.

Restrooms

There are men’s and women’s washrooms in the Orientation Circle that are open seasonally between mid-May and mid-October. There is one larger stall in each washroom.
