Restricted Activity: Personal vehicle access on the Bow Valley Parkway

What: Pursuant to Section 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, of the Canada National Parks Act, the following activity is restricted or prohibited by order of the Superintendent: Motor vehicle access on identified roads.
Where: Banff National Park of Canada secondary roads:
- Bow Valley Parkway (from its east end/junction with the Trans-Canada Highway, up to Johnston Canyon). Johnston Canyon can be accessed by vehicle via Castle Junction.
Why: Personal vehicle access is restricted from April 30 to June 25, 2026, for the purpose of a reduced vehicle traffic cycling experience.
To maintain certain services in the park, vehicle access is not restricted for Parks Canada staff and contractors, emergency services, utilities, and railway operators.
Penalty: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.
