WHAT: Pursuant to Section 36(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, of the Canada National Parks Act, the following area is closed to the public by order of the Superintendent:

Parks Canada is facilitating an Indigenous ceremonial bison hunt in the backcountry of Banff National Park that will take place throughout the month of October and early November.

WHERE: An area of the Red Deer River valley bottom bounded by McConnell Creek in the west and the boundary of Banff National Park in the east

WHY: To ensure public safety during the Indigenous ceremonial bison harvest.

PENALTY: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.
