TEMPORARY NO STOPPING ZONE FOR WILDLIFE

Wildlife Spot No Stopping Zone
WHAT: Pursuant to Section 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations under the Canada National Parks Act, Superintendents annually authorize the use of no stopping zones to restrict traffic from stopping between designated ‘stopping is prohibited’ signs, as required.
WHERE: No Stopping Zones may be implemented in small sections of any road west of Castle junction in Banff National Park, as needed. These zones will be clearly marked on-site but will not be posted on Parks Canada websites.
WHY: To ensure public safety and reduce disturbance to wildlife in areas where there is an elevated risk of harm due to ongoing human or vehicle presence.
PENALTY: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.
