How to apply for a Parks Canada Job

Found a job you are interested in? Check out these tips to help create the best possible application.

Decoding the Job Poster

At first glance, the job poster can be intimidating. Take time to read through the entire poster carefully. Make sure you meet all the essential qualifications for the job. If you don’t, chances are you won’t be screened through to an interview.

Parks pro tip: Contact the person listed on the job posting for a work description or if you have questions.

Preparing your application

Get started by creating a GC jobs account.

Depending on the position you may be asked to provide the following:

  • Resume: Upload your resume to your GC Jobs account. Tailor it for each job you apply for.
  • Cover letter: Keep it short, no more than two pages.
  • Screening questionnaire: These questions are used to ensure you meet the essential qualifications. Answer all the questions with specific examples.

Parks pro tip: There is no option for resume formatting on the GC Jobs website. We recommend removing all formatting in a word processor and reorganizing the information so it is clear without formatting. Then you can copy and paste the text into the GC Jobs application page.

Preparing for a selection process

Parks pro tip: Further assessments could include: presentations, written or practical tests, samples of previous work, simulations, and/or interviews. Don’t be surprised if you are asked to participate in more than just an interview!
