What:
Pursuant to subsection 36(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, the following area is closed to all traffic and travel by order of the Superintendent:
Where:
The Caribou Conservation Breeding Program soft-release pen in the Tonquin Valley, the Amethyst Lake cabins, and extending 150 metres outside from the perimeter fence, as delineated in the attached map. The soft-release pen are is located near the shore of Amethyst Lake southeast of the Amethyst Backcountry Campsite and southwest of the Clitheroe Backcountry Campsite.
Why:
To minimize disturbance to the caribou located in the soft-release pen and to ensure public safety due to the presence of an electric fence along the pen perimeter.
Penalty:
Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.
