Special event permits for Jasper National Park

Jasper National Park

A special event is defined as any planned temporary activity which is open to, or intended to, attract the general public. Events can be conducted for recreation, entertainment or promotional purposes. They include any sporting event, concert, theatrical or musical performance, fair, contest and show.

A special event requires a licence if it is carried out in the park.

New special event applications are reviewed by a committee consisting of Parks Canada, Tourism Jasper and the Municipality of Jasper to ensure that they are suitable and don’t interfere with other events or activities. To apply for a new event, please complete the form at: www.jasper.travel/events-jasper/event-application/.

Some points to note:

  • The application deadline for new winter events (November 1 – April 30) is July 1. For summer events (May 1 – October 31) it is January 1.
  • June 15 to September 15 is the high-visitation period in the park. New events outside the Municipality of Jasper are unlikely to be approved for this period.
