WHAT: Pursuant to Section 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, of the Canada National Parks Act, the following activity is restricted or prohibited by order of the Superintendent:

Access and entry into the area marked on the attached map in Emerald Basin is prohibited.

WHERE: This area indicated in red on the map and is legally described as within the coordinates
51.472188oN 116.569879oW to 51.466971oN 116.566461oW to
51.470604oN 116.55302oW and bounded by the creek bed back to coordinate 51.472188oN 116.569879oW.

WHY: Protection of Burgess Shale fossils.

PENALTY: This site is under electronic surveillance. Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $100 000.
