Campground Hosts are here to help — whether you’ve forgotten something, need help with a camping task or need to report a concern. Campground Hosts are friendly, outgoing volunteers who help make Jeremy’s Bay Campground feel like a home away from home.

Campground Hosts
Campground Hosts come from all backgrounds: some are retired, others are early in their careers, some arrive solo and others bring their families. Campground Hosts must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
Key Campground Host qualities:
- a love for Kejimkujik
- a friendly, outgoing personality
- a passion for meeting new people
- a positive attitude when working with a variety of visitors
- strong camping experience
- familiarity with Kejimkujik and local attractions
Responsibilities
Campground Hosts play a key role in creating a welcoming and safe environment for all visitors.
Duties include:
- greeting visitors and providing friendly hospitality
- sharing information about Kejimkujik regulations, resources and local attractions
- acting as positive camping role models
- completing daily walks through the campground
- assisting campers with common questions or needs
- submitting a brief daily report summarizing activities and visitor feedback
- staying visible and approachable by spending time outdoors
- communicating with Kejimkujik staff and contacting them when necessary
- participating in training
Time commitment
- 1–2 weeks during the camping season (mid-May to end of October)
- On duty at least five days out of every seven; hours concentrated in the morning and evening
- Campground Hosts are considered on call whenever they are at the Campground Host site (M31)
Perks
During their volunteer period, Campground Hosts are provided with:
- access to the Campground Host campsite (M31)
- complimentary firewood
- free entry to Kejimkujik
Campground Hosts do not receive any additional benefits beyond what is necessary for them to support visitors and help create a great experience.
Campground Hosts are responsible for their own transportation to and from Kejimkujik, as well as their camping setup and gear during their stay.
Training and support
- All Campground Hosts undergo a government security clearance provided by Parks Canada
- Training is offered at the start of the season, where Campground Hosts meet each other and learn about their responsibilities
- Throughout the season, a designated Kejimkujik staff member supports Campground Hosts with regular check-ins and is available to answer questions—ensuring that all Campground Hosts feel prepared, connected and confident.
