Superintendent’s Orders

Nothing in these Orders shall be construed so as to abrogate or derogate from the protection provided for existing aboriginal or treaty rights of the aboriginal peoples of Canada by the recognition and affirmation of those rights in section 35 of the Constitution Act, 1982.

AREA CLOSURES

What: Pursuant to subsection 7(1) of the National Park General Regulations, the Superintendent has designated entry and travel the following areas in Thaıdene Nëné National Park Reserve as prohibited.

• Desnéthcheé,
• Dzén Kı́n (Rat Lodge) and Tsá Kı́n (Beaver Lodge) on Ɂedacho Tué (Artillery Lake),
• An Island in Timber Bay in Ɂedacho Tué (Artillery Lake),
• Tsakui Theda Deze (Lockhart River),
• Island in the mouth of Tsakui Theda Deze (Lockhart River).

For clarity, entry by people exercising aboriginal or treaty rights are not restricted by this order.

Why: For National Park Reserve management and cultural purposes.

From: June 26, 2026

End date: Until further notice

Penalty: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act.
