Infrastructure Work in Cavendish area of PEI National Park

Issued: October 14, 2026

Parks Canada would like to inform local residents and visitors of upcoming infrastructure and road work in the Cavendish area of PEI National Park.

  • From October 14, 2026, to approximately December 2026, road resurfacing work will be undertaken on the Cavendish Campground perimeter road.
  • From October 14, 2026, through to spring 2027, the Cavendish Grove parking lot and portions of the area’s trail network, commonly accessed via the Route 6 entrance, will be temporarily closed while work is completed. Access to some sections of the trail network will remain available via the Cavendish Beach access point on the north side of the site.

Visitors may encounter traffic delays, construction vehicles, equipment, noise, and temporary changes to access in areas where work is underway.

For the safety of visitors, residents, Parks Canada staff, and contractors, the public is asked to respect all posted signage and stay clear of active construction areas and equipment. Parks Canada has scheduled this work outside the peak visitor season to help reduce impacts on residents and visitors while allowing important infrastructure improvements to be completed safely and efficiently.

Parks Canada thanks residents and visitors for their patience and cooperation during this work.
