CEO Awards and tribute to Marie-Laure Rochefort

Forillon National Park

On September 19, 2024, a very special celebration was held to highlight the creation of a lasting relationship between persons expropriated from Forillon and Parks Canada.

Parks Canada employees, members of the Association of persons expropriated from Forillon and their descendance, as well as members of expropriated families gathered to celebrate the Parks Canada PCEO’s Award of Excellence in the Spirit of Collaboration category—a prestigious recognition they had received earlier thir year.

From a strained relationship to an exceptional one, the Forillon National Park team and that of the Regroupement de personnes expropriées de Forillon et leurs descendance, have been able to develop a constructive collaboration leading to the telling of the story and commemoration of the memory of those expropriated, including the Grande-Grave Heritage Lodging Project (announced in 2022 and celebrated in 2023). Their openness and mutual respect allow us to look to the future with optimism.

At the same time, a heartfelt tribute was paid to Ms. Marie-Laure Rochefort, whose exemplary dedication was recognized by Parks Canada employees, the Association, and the greater Gaspé community.
