    On select Saturdays throughout July and August, our guests will speak about their experiences and share knowledge that they have gained over the years. Anyone wanting to learn more about and connect more deeply with First Nations and Red River Métis culture is invited and encouraged to attend.

    Biography: Gloria Beckman (she/her) has been an instructor for many years, teaching moccasin and mukluk workshops for schools, in communities, and for the Manitobah Story Boot School. Spending many years working within Indigenous language education within the province of Manitoba, Gloria believes in the importance of incorporating various components of cultures and traditions in language learning.

    Join Friends of Lower Fort Garry for a traditional Victorian high tea at the Big House. Nibble on fancy sandwiches and pastries as you enjoy the atmosphere on the verandah.

    Biography: Hello, my name is Lance Guilbault. Awinigaabo ndizhnikaaz (“The Fog or Mist That Stands Alone/The Standing Fog”) is my spirit name. Ginew ndotem (“Golden Eagle”) is my Clan. I was raised in a traditional environment where I was able to participate in ceremonies. I am thankful that I was able to embrace our sacred ways because my parents made a point of taking me to these sacred spaces like the Sundance, sweat lodge, powwows and other ceremonies.

    Coming from a long line of wise teachers and then becoming one himself, Lance will share stories at Lower Fort Garry on July 11.

Christa, a proud member of Peguis First Nation is now the owner of Feast Café Bistro, whose menu stems directly from her heart and her garden. Feast is a celebration of Indigenous cultures, offering visitors a unique opportunity to experience modern culinary creations that remain firmly rooted in traditional First Nations and Métis foods.
