Where does the volunteer activity take place?

The shoreline cleanup activity at the Lachine Canal National Historic Site is available in specific sectors along the canal. These locations were selected based on their accessibility and the level of cleanup required:

  • Atwater Area

Who is this activity for?

To volunteer and help clean up the banks of the Lachine Canal, participants should be comfortable walking outdoors, following safety instructions, and using the equipment provided. The activity offered at the Lachine Canal National Historic Site is designed to:

What equipment is provided?

The following equipment is provided to groups during the Lachine Canal shoreline cleanup:

  • bags;
  • buckets ;
  • work gloves;
  • tongs for picking up trash;

In addition, Parks Canada team will provide a review of safety instructions and recommended practices to follow throughout the cleanup.
