Restricted activity: Non-watercraft aquatic equipment

PURSUANT TO SECTION 7(1) OF THE GENERAL REGULATIONS OF THE CANADA NATIONAL PARKS ACT, USE OF NON-WATERCRAFT AQUATIC EQUIPMENT* IS RESTRICTED TO HOLDERS OF A VALID NON-WATERCRAFT EQUIPMENT SELF-CERTIFICAITON PERMIT

*Non-watercraft aquatic equipment means: any equipment used in the water including waders, wading boots, fishing gear, diving equipment, snorkeling equipment, personal flotation devices (PFD), research equipment, and any other recreational equipment intended for use in waterbodies.

Self-certification permits can be obtained at the following locations:
- Highway 6 watercraft inspection station
- Park Gate
- Visitor Centre
- Campgrounds
- Permit boxes at common waterbody access locations

Any equipment needing to be cleaned or decontaminated prior to obtaining a self-certification permit can be brought to the Highway 6 watercraft inspection station.

This restriction applies at all times on all watercourses within Waterton Lakes National Park.

This restriction is in place to prevent the introduction and spread of invasive non-native aquatic species.
