Waterton Lakes National Park
For current road conditions, check 511 Alberta or DriveBC. During winter, the only fuel station in the park is closed. The nearest stations are in Pincher Creek and Mountain View. Electric vehicle charging stations are available year-round.
Parks Canada is committed to maintaining roads for pedestrians and vehicles. Dates are subject to change based on weather and construction projects.
Akamina Parkway: Open year-round; seasonal winter closure to vehicles beyond Little Prairie day use area.

Red Rock Parkway: Open seasonally to vehicles (typically May to late October); pedestrian access remains available year-round.

Chief Mountain Highway: Open year-round to the Waterton Valley Viewpoint.

Winter driving
Following a snowfall, roads are maintained for emergency vehicle access, winter visitor experiences, and park operations. Roads are maintained according to operational priorities and weather conditions. Expect temporary closures during snow clearing operations.
Carry a winter emergency kit and check road conditions before travelling.
