Claim or compensation request following an incident

If you believe you have suffered damage or loss at the Lachine Canal National Historic Site, please contact our team by email at infocanalqc@pc.gc.ca, describing clearly and in detail the nature of the incident and the circumstances surrounding it. We will then provide you with the steps to submit a claim to the Government of Canada.

Important: Submitting a compensation claim does not necessarily mean you will receive compensation. All claims are investigated and responded to in writing. The review process may take several weeks. In the meantime, to limit losses, report the incident to your insurer, who may have a contractual obligation to repair the damage immediately. Your insurer may then seek reimbursement from Parks Canada.
