Appeals
A decision on a development or discretionary use permit may be appealed to the Superintendent by either the applicant, or anybody affected by the decision. The appeal must be made within 14 days of a permit denial or posting of a permit on our Public Notice webpage.
In order to have a decision overturned, an appellant must demonstrate that the development officer misinterpreted the relevant development requirements or did not follow the development review process all in accordance with the Town of Jasper Land Use Policy.
An appeal of a development permit must be made in writing to the Development Office and include the following information:
- identification of the property, the application, and the decision being disputed
- name and mailing address of the appellant
- specific reasons for the appeal
The Superintendent’s decision is final. If an application for an appeal is refused, the superintendent may refuse to accept for consideration, with respect to the same land, or part of that land, a further application for a development permit, submitted within the 6 month period after the date of the superintendent’s decision to refuse the application.
