Activities in the community

Waterton Lakes National Park

Stay on the beaten path and explore the community of Waterton. With the Townsite Loop Trail, Cameron Falls and Peace Park Pavilion, there's lots to see and do.

Here are some ideas for things to do in the community:

  • Cycle or walk the Townsite Loop Trail (bicycles can be rented in town)
  • Visit the redesigned Peace Park Plaza near the marina. The Plaza celebrates the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park World Heritage Site
  • Visit Cameron Falls and climb up the trail to the overlook
  • Play ball, soccer or frisbie at the playing field
  • Visit our International Peace Park native plant demonstration garden near the marina
  • Take in an interpretive program at Cameron Falls Theatre
  • Enjoy interpretive programming and hands-on activities at the green space on Waterton Avenue
  • Go for a swim, boat or paddleboard at Emerald Bay (rentals are available in town). Wear safety gear
  • Skip some stones
  • Go for an ice cream
  • Visit one of our sets of Red Chairs
  • View the night sky from Cameron Bay
  • Play some basketball or tennis at the multi-use courts
  • Visit the Blackfoot Cultural Centre and learn about the Indigenous presence in Waterton. The park is part of the traditional territory and a place of significance for the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and other Indigenous peoples
  • Visit Waterton’s shops, cafes and restaurants

Many activities are suitable for visitors with mobility challenges. If you are wondering whether an activity may be appropriate for you or a companion, ask Parks Canada staff.
