Wake up in the past!
Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site
Sleep in a period style building as you become one of the town residents for the night.
Your 18th-century experience doesn’t have to end when the gates close at 5:00 pm. Explore the fortress – you’ll have it all to yourself - or sit back, cozy up with a fire and imagine what life was like 300 years ago!
Lartigue House
Located on the edge of the fortified town, this period style house will provide a truly unique experience and create long-lasting memories to cherish. This ‘glamping’ experience includes the use of two queen-sized beds, each in a separate sleeping area of the house.
All overnight guests will receive a camping kit, which includes:
- propane camp stove;
- lighter;
- wooden folding table;
- lantern; and,
- access to a fire pit.
A private washroom (no shower facilities), a kitchenette (sink, microwave, coffeemaker and mini fridge), and heat and electricity are available within the house. Please note, firewood and propane are sold separately.
Reservations can be made for overnight stays between May 20 and October 18, 2024. Reservations must be made by 12 pm for that same night.

The Guardhouse

All overnight guests will receive a camping kit, which includes the use of:
- sleeping mats,
- propane camp stove;
- lighter;
- wooden folding table;
- lantern; and,
- access to a fire pit.

The Prison
Experience the fortress in a completely new way! Spend the night as a ‘voluntary inmate’ in the fortress prison, located just inside the King’s Bastion. Complimentary sleeping mats will make the wooden platform much more comfortable than they would have been for prisoners of the fortress, 300 years ago! Unlike occupants from centuries ago, you can leave freely to explore the fortress grounds during your stay.
All overnight guests will receive a camping kit, which includes the use of:
- sleeping mats
- propane camp stove;
- lighter;
- child's cot;
- wooden folding table;
- lantern; and,

Public washrooms are just a short walk from your campsite (no shower facilities) as well as a communal camping room with running water and electrical outlets.
