HMCS Haida National Historic Site

Explore Canada's naval history first-hand aboard HMCS Haida, the last of the famous Tribal-class destroyers and the ceremonial flagship of the Royal Canadian Navy.

Climb to the open-air bridge to take in a commanding view of the Hamilton Harbour. Explore the mess decks, radio room, and engine room to learn the story of Canada's 'fightingest' ship. Take a tour of the main deck to learn first-hand about the dangers faced by the ship's company as it served in the Second World War, Cold War, and the Korean War.

Explore HMCS Haida from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays from May 17 to August 31, 2025.

Please note, daily activities are subject to change.

  • Noon Day Gun (included with admission): Experience the power and precision of naval artillery as we honor maritime traditions with daily firing demonstration of our Twin 4” high angle guns. This demonstration is a must-see during your visit!
  • Ship's Siren (included with admission): The ship’s siren is brought to life! Once used to signal the ship’s movement, the siren will roar to life daily at 1:00 p.m. echoing the powerful history of HMCS Haida!
  • Historic Weapons Demo (included with admission): Discover the sights and sounds of historic firearms, pivotal in military history throughout the 20th century. Learn about the rifle’s history, mechanics, and its role in naval operations while gaining insights into the experiences of sailors who relied on this weapon. Ideal for history buffs of all ages!
     

Daily Schedule (Wednesday-Sunday)

  • 11:00 a.m. – Historic Weapons Demo
  • 12:00 p.m. – Noon Day Gun
  • 1:00 p.m. – Ship's Siren
  • 3:00 p.m. – Historic Weapons Demo
