Join us in commemorating the 150th anniversary of the gathering of 1876 in Obadjiwan-Fort Témiscamingue.

This significant historical milestone marks the coexistence of the Algonquin, French-Canadian, and British-Scottish peoples, as well as their 1876 gathering—a moment captured by George McLaughlin and acknowledged as the oldest photograph of Abitibi-Témiscamingue.

In fact, the word “Maamawiinowag” in the Algonquin language means “to gather in large numbers” in English.

The exact schedule of commemorations is to be confirmed, but the event will begin in the afternoon.
