Amyot Lake Trail

The Amyot Lake Trail loop is nested within the West Side Trail. To access the Amyot Lake Trail depart the Valleyview Day Use Area south to the 5.7km point of the West Side Boundary Trail. From here the Amyot Lake Trail travels east to the Shore of Amyot Lake.

Unfenced, Unexpected, Unforgettable
Keep your ears perked. You may hear thundering hooves that once again grace the Canadian prairies. After an almost 100-year absence, plains bison wander freely both in Prince Albert National Park and on neighbouring lands. Introduced by the Saskatchewan government in 1969, the Sturgeon River plains bison herd is one of a very few free-ranging plains bison herds that have been re-introduced to their original North American range.

The Sturgeon River Plains Bison herd frequents the Amyot Lake area. This trail remains one of the best places to see these free ranging bison.

Significant Features: Aspen parkland and sedge meadows in this area are frequently visited by the free ranging Sturgeon River Plains Bison herd.
