International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust

On January 27, we mark the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi concentration and death camp.

On this solemn day, we pay tribute to the more than six million Jewish people killed during the Holocaust and those who survived, as well as the thousands of other victims of Nazism (including Roma, people with disabilities, 2SLGBTQI+ people, and political dissidents). This tragedy reminds us of the harm caused by hatred. Let us come together to honour the memory of the men, women, and children who were systematically persecuted and murdered. Please take time to read the Prime Minister’s statement.

Though January 27 is a jarring reminder of the devastating consequences of hatred, it is also a call for us to open our minds and learn more about the Holocaust. In commemoration of this day, we invite you to participate in the following event:

Sincerely, and Shalom (Peace)
