
La Clairière: a spacious campground designed with the needs of groups in mind.
Group camping
La Mauricie National Park
La Clairière group campground is reserved for groups. Its exceptional and isolated location on the shores of Wapizagonke Lake can accommodate up to 70 people. The vast grounds and facilities provide all the amenities for an unforgettable stay.
Reservation
A minimum of 45 people is required to stay at La Clairière group campground. The campground is then reserved for your group only.

Individuals in charge of groups must present their camping permit at the Saint-Mathieu Visitor Reception Centre upon arriving at the park.

Facilities and activities
On the site
Kitchen shelters
There are two kitchen shelters, each equipped with picnic tables, a woodstove and storage cabinets for the use of campers. The shelters are a good place to come in out of the rain or lousy weather or to store coolers and food.
Service building
The service building houses toilets and free showers that are accessible to people with reduced mobility. Two sinks have been set up outdoors for washing dishes.
Campfires
The campground has a campfire site. Wood is no longer provided for group camping. To purchase firewood, campers must go to the Mistagance semi-serviced campground or the Shewenegan picnic site and bring it to their site. In order to limit the spread of disease and insects, it is forbidden to bring wood from outside the park.
Parking
A parking area for a maximum of 7 vehicles is reserved for group campers at the Esker Parking Lot, located 700m away. It is important not to drive your vehicle on the grassy area of La Clairière campground.
Activities
A grassy area can be used for a number of activities. In addition, a large private beach provides access to Wapizagonke Lake for swimming or water activities. It is also possible to rent canoes for the duration of your stay.
La Clairière campground sector is located 3 kilometres away from the Shewenegan picnic area.
Equipment to bring
Campers must see to bringing whatever other supplies and equipment are required for their entire length of stay. The following is a non-exhaustive list of things to bring:
- Sleeping bag or bedding, blankets and pillows
- Food, drink and container for water
- Clothing
- Dishware and cooler
- Flashlight
- Stuff required for the fire (Firewood, matches or lighter, fire starter, kindling paper)
- Insect repellent
- Personal effects, equipment and leisure accessories
- First aid kit
Regulations
In addition to the national parks' general rules, La Clairière group campground users must follow a few additional rules:
- The following schedule must be complied with:
- Check-in time: from 2 pm
- Check-out time: by 11 am
- Quiet time (curfew) is from 11 pm to 7 am
- Subject to fine and/or expulsion, it is forbidden to:
- behave in a way that disturbs others (partying, etc.);
- keep one's site in a condition deemed unsatisfactory by the park superintendant.
- It is forbidden to light or maintain a fire anywhere except in fireplaces. It is forbidden to use dead wood or wood taken from the forest to light or maintain a fire.
- You must leave your garbage in the receptacles designed for that purpose.
- Coolers must be stored inside the cabinets inside the kitchen shelters in order to prevent any conflict with wild animals.
- No pets are allowed.
- Only tents may be used at this campground (no RV).
