Dates and hours of operation

La Mauricie National Park is open by sectors, depending on the time of year.

The Parkway that winds across the park is fully open from late May to mid-October.

The park is open in its entirety, with all services available, from late June to early September.

The Rivière à la Pêche (Saint-Jean-des-Piles entrance) and Saint-Gérard sectors are accessible year-round, with services varying by season.

Day visitors can access open sectors from sunrise to 10 pm.

The park is open on holidays.

Entrances and Parkway dates of operation

Three entrances provide access to La Mauricie National Park. The Saint-Jean-des-Piles and Saint-Mathieu entrances are the main entrances and are connected to the Parkway that winds across the entire park. The Saint-Gérard entrance is not connected to the Parkway.

Dates and hours of operation by season

There are two main seasons at La Mauricie National Park – the summer season and the winter season – during which facilities are open and services are offered. Between these two seasons, there is the low season during which certain areas of the park are open with limited services. Here are more details about these seasons:

Summer season

The summer season runs from May 14 to October 25, 2026.

Some sectors of the park open and close gradually.

Entry pass

Visitors must always have their entry pass with them. The Discovery Pass is valid during this season, as is the seasonal summer pass. Day visitors must pay their daily entry fee to on-site staff or at the automated payment terminals at the Saint-Jean-des-Piles, Saint-Gérard and Saint-Mathieu entrances. All visitors must register with on-site staff or at the automated payment terminals.

Winter season

The winter season runs from December 17, 2026 to March 28, 2027.

Entry and activity passes

Visitors must always have their entry and activity passes (for cross-country skiing) with them. The Discovery Pass is valid during this season. The seasonal winter entry and activity passes are also valid. Day visitors must pay their daily entry and activity fees (for cross-country skiing) to on-site staff or at the automated payment terminals at the Saint-Jean-des-Piles and Saint-Gérard entrances. All visitors must register with on-site staff or at the automated payment terminals.

Low season

The spring low season runs from March 29 to May 12, 2027.

The fall low season runs from October 26 to December 16, 2026.

Facilities and services

During the low season, the facilities are closed and it is not possible to stay overnight at the park. Day visitors can come from sunrise to 10 pm. Basic services such as outhouses and shelters are nevertheless available.

Entry pass

Visitors must always have their entry pass with them. The Discovery Pass is valid. The daily entry fee can be paid at the automated payment terminals at the Saint-Jean-des-Piles and Saint-Gérard entrances.

Spring low season: the seasonal pass from the previous winter is valid

Fall low season: the seasonal pass from the previous summer is valid.

All visitors must register with on-site staff or at the automated payment terminals.
