Fees

All fees listed include all applicable taxes.

  1. Fees payable when the reservation is made: Both reservation fees and camping fees are due at the time of your reservation.
    • The Reservation Fee is non-refundable and helps cover the operating cost of this Reservation Service. The fee to make a reservation on-line is $11.50. The fee to make a reservation by phone is $13.50.
      • This fee is charged per campsite, per stay. A stay is defined as a series of consecutive nights (not exceeding the maximum length of stay) with the same offer (frontcountry camping) within the same national park.
    • Camping Fees are the fees paid for the use of the campsite. These fees help cover the operating costs of the campground itself and its facilities. They are charged on a per night basis and the fee is established based on the park, the campground, and the service type.
  2. Entry Fees: The fees charged when you make your reservation do not include the entry fees for national parks, national historic sites or national marine conservation areas. Entry fees are charged at most locations, where revenues support the quality visitor services and facilities. This means that every time you visit a park or site you are investing in its future — and in a legacy for future generations.
You will be required to have a valid entry pass for each day of your visit (whether you physically enter each day or not). You can choose either daily entry passes or annual passes. For your convenience, you can purchase your National Discovery Pass or a Single Location Annual Pass available online at: https://parks.canada.ca/voyage-travel/admission. There are several pricing models available to ensure you get the best value for your visit(s).
  3. Changes and Cancellations: A transaction fee is charged to change or cancel a completed reservation. This fee is non-refundable and helps cover the operating cost of this Reservation Service. The fee for each change or cancellation on-line is $11.50. The fee for each change or cancellation by phone is $13.50. Other fees may apply for both changes and cancellations (see policy #9 and #10).
  4. Parks Canada’s full list of fees can be found at: https://parks.canada.ca/voyage-travel/tarifs-fees

Methods of Payment

  1. Methods of payment: All costs incurred through the use of this reservation service must be paid by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB or China Union Pay) or debit card (Visa) at the time of the transaction.

It must be given to Parks Canada staff so that they can register you into the campground. Upon arrival, please check-in at the campground kiosk; do not go directly to the campsite, except for the campgrounds in the following National Parks:
    • Wood Buffalo National Park
    • Thousand Islands National Park
    • Kluane National Park and Reserve

Changes to reservations

  1. Changes before check-in:
    • A change may include changes in: date(s), campground (within the same national park), campsite number, etc. (changes can only be made on-line or by telephone, we cannot make changes based on email or chat requests).
    • Change(s) to your reservation made up to 3 days prior to your scheduled day of arrival will be charged (or refunded, as applicable) the difference in the value of your stay plus the non-refundable change fee for each transaction.
    • If you delay your arrival date less than 3 days prior to your scheduled day of arrival; you will be charged (or refunded, as applicable) the difference in the value of your stay, plus the non-refundable change fee plus your first night of camping.
    • If you change the campsite/campground (within the same national park) or the departure date at anytime up until 11 am on the day after your scheduled day of arrival, you will be charged (or refunded, as applicable) the difference in the value of your stay plus the non-refundable change fee.
*The change fee will not be charged to extend the length of stay of a reservation as long as the arrival date and service type remains the same.

Change example: You have a reservation scheduled to arrive on July 10th but your travel plans have changed and you can only arrive on July 11th. In order to avoid being charged a 1 night penalty, you must change your reservation before July 7th at 11:59 pm, local park time. Doing so, you will only be charged the non-refundable change fee ($11.50 for changes made online or $13.50 for changes made by phone). Doing so, you will receive a full refund less the original non-refundable reservation fee ($11.50 for reservations made online or $13.50 for reservations made by phone) and the cancellation fee ($11.50 for cancellations made online or $13.50 for cancellations made by phone). Late arrivals

  1. Will you be arriving late? While campers may check-in to their frontcountry campsite as early as 2 pm, most campgrounds accept arrivals throughout the evening and even overnight. Please click on the "More Information" icon on the homepage of the national park that interests you to learn their kiosk hours, as well as the "After hours registration" policy specific to that park.

***If the Park does not have any restrictive "After hours" messaging, you do not need to advise us if you will be arriving in the evening or overnight on your scheduled day of arrival. Your campsite will be held for you until 11 am the day after your scheduled day of arrival. ***

If you will not be able to arrive at the campground by 11 am the day after your scheduled day of arrival, but you still wish to retain your reservation, you must contact the campground staff directly to advise them to keep your reservation. If you do not know the telephone number for the campground, call 1-877-RESERVE (1-877-737-3783).

If you have not checked-in by 11 am the day after your scheduled day of arrival, and you have not notified the campground staff, you will be considered a "No-Show" (see policy #12) and your reservation will be cancelled.

No-shows

  1. No-Shows: If you have not checked-in at the campground by 11 am the day after your scheduled day of arrival, and if you have not contacted the park to inform them of your late arrival, you will be deemed a “No-Show”. Your reservation will be cancelled and your campsite will be made available to other guests.

If you are deemed a “No-show”, you can claim a refund of all monies paid, less the original, non-refundable reservation fee and a penalty of your first two-nights of camping (if applicable) by calling the Park directly within 30 days of your originally scheduled departure date.

Thirty days after your originally scheduled departure date all of your fees become non-refundable.

For these activities, please refer to their specific policy on this page.

Hours of Operation

      • This fee is charged per stay. A stay is defined as a series of consecutive nights (not exceeding the maximum length of stay) within the same offer (backcountry camping) within the same national park.
    • Backcountry Camping Fees are the fees paid for the use of the backcountry campsite. These fees help cover the operating costs of the campground, trails and facilities. They are charged on a per night basis (either by campsite or per person, depending on the Park) and the fee is established based on the park, the campground, the number of campers (if applicable) and the amenities.
For your convenience, you can purchase your National Discovery Pass or a Single Location Annual Pass online at: https://parks.canada.ca/voyage-travel/admission. There are several pricing models available to ensure you get the best value for your visit(s).
  3. Bus Fees: Reservations for backcountry camping at Lake O’Hara campground in Yoho National Park also add fees for the required round-trip bus transportation.
  5. Parks Canada's full list of fees can be found at: https://parks.canada.ca/voyage-travel/tarifs-fees.

Methods of Payment

  1. Methods of payment: All costs incurred through the use of this reservation service must be paid by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB or China Union Pay) or debit card (Visa) at the time of the transaction.

Confirmation (Booking Number)

It is important that you take note of this booking number and bring it, along with your printed confirmation letter, with you to the park.

Changes To Reservations

A change to a reservation is only applicable within the same offer (i.e. you cannot change from staying at a backcountry campsite to staying in a frontcountry campsite or an accommodation; in this case you would have to make a separate reservation).
  1. Changes before check-in:
    • A change may include changes in: date(s), backcountry campground (within the same national park), backcountry campsite number, number of tent pads, etc. (changes can only be made on-line or by telephone, we cannot make changes based on email or chat requests).
    • Change(s) to your reservation can be made up to 2 pm on your scheduled day of arrival (up to 3:30 pm the day prior to arrival for Lake O’Hara campground in Yoho National Park). A change may include changes in: date(s), backcountry campground (within the same national park), backcountry campsite number, etc. You will be charged (or refunded, as applicable) the difference in the value of your stay, plus the non-refundable change fee for each transaction.
    • If you delay your arrival date less than 3 days prior to your scheduled day of arrival; you will be charged (or refunded, as applicable) the difference in the value of your stay, plus the non-refundable change fee, plus your first night of backcountry camping.
*The change fee will not be charged to extend the length of stay of a backcountry reservation as long as the arrival date remains the same.

Change example: You have a backcountry reservation scheduled to arrive on July 10th but your travel plans have changed and you can only arrive on July 11th. In order to avoid being charged a 1 night penalty, you must change your reservation before July 7th at 11:59 pm, local park time. Doing so, you will only be charged a non-refundable change fee ($11.50 for changes made online or $13.50 for changes made by phone). If you change on July 8th, July 9th, or July 10th, you will be charged a non-refundable change fee ($11.50 for changes made online or $13.50 for changes made by phone), plus the fees for the first night of backcountry camping.

Cancellation example: You have a backcountry reservation scheduled to arrive on July 10th but your travel plans have changed. In order to avoid being charged a 1 night cancellation penalty, you must cancel before July 7th at 11:59 pm, local park time. Doing so, you will receive a full refund less the original non-refundable reservation fee ($11.50 for reservations made online or $13.50 for reservations made by phone) and a cancellation fee ($11.50 for cancellations made online or $13.50 for cancellations made by phone). If you cancel on July 8th, July 9th, or July 10th, you will receive a full refund less the original non-refundable reservation fee ($11.50 for reservations made online or $13.50 for reservations made by phone), a cancellation fee ($11.50 for cancellations made online or $13.50 for cancellations made by phone), plus the fees for the first night of backcountry camping.

Arrival at the Park

  1. For most backcountry offers, upon arrival, you must check-in at the Park Office/campground first to get current route information and to receive your camping permit; do not go directly to the backcountry.

Exception for backcountry camping in Jasper, Riding Mountain, Pacific Rim (Broken Group Islands only), Glacier, Mount Revelstoke, Gulf Islands and Banff/Kootenay/Yoho National Parks backcountry only, you do not need to register in person at the park. Your confirmation letter is your permit. Carry your confirmation letter with you at all times in the backcountry. Please ensure that you have updated or noted your vehicle information before going to the park.

If you have a reservation for Keeha Beach backcountry campsite at Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, please check in at the Pachena Bay WCT Orientation Centre.

Campers must meet at the bus staging area at least 20 minutes prior to departure, as described in your reservation confirmation. The shuttle bus will not wait, and there will not be seats available on other buses. It is important to arrive on time.

    All other backcountry locations:

If you will be arriving late – ensure you have enough daylight to get to your campsite. Campers may check in to their backcountry campsite anytime on the day of arrival although the campsite might not be vacated until after 11 am from previous guests. Please click on the "More Information" icon on the homepage of the national park that interests you to learn their kiosk hours, as well as the "After hours registration" policy specific to that park.

If you will not be able to arrive at the Park Office/campground by 11 am the day after your scheduled day of arrival, but you still wish to retain your reservation, you must contact the campground staff directly to advise them to keep your reservation. If you do not know the telephone number for the campground, call 1-877-RESERVE (1-877-737-3783).

If you have not checked-in by 11 am the day after your scheduled day of arrival, and you have not notified the campground staff, you will be considered a "No-Show" (see policy #13) and your reservation will be cancelled.

No-Shows

  1. No-Shows: If your backcountry reservation is for a camping offer that requires check-in, and you have not checked-in at the Park Office/campground by 11 am the day after your scheduled day of arrival, and if you have not contacted the park to inform them of your late arrival, you will be deemed a "No-Show".

*Please note that this does not apply to Backcountry bookings for Jasper, Riding Mountain, Pacific Rim [Broken Group Islands only], Forillon, Grasslands, Elk Island, Georgian Bay Islands, Glacier, Mount Revelstoke, Gulf Islands, Banff/Kootenay/Yoho and Yoho [Lake O’Hara Campground].

It is important that you take note of this booking number and bring it, along with your printed confirmation letter, with you to the campground. It must be given to Parks Canada staff so that they can register you into the campground. Upon arrival, please check-in at the campground kiosk.

Changes To Reservations

A change to a reservations is only applicable within the same offer (i.e. you cannot change from staying at a group campsite to staying in Parks Canada accommodations, such as oTENTiks, Yurts, cabins, etc.; in this case you would have to make a separate reservation).
  1. Changes before check-in:
    • Changes can only be made on-line or by telephone, we cannot make changes based on email or chat requests.
    • A change may include changes in: date(s), campground (within the same national park), campsite number, etc.
    • Change(s) to your reservation can be made up to 30 days prior to your scheduled day of arrival. You will be charged (or refunded, as applicable) the difference in the value of your stay plus the non-refundable change fee for each transaction.

*The change fee will not be charged to extend the length of stay of a reservation as long as the arrival date and service type remains the same.

Change example: You have a reservation scheduled to arrive on July 1st but your travel plans have changed and you can only arrive on July 2nd. In order to avoid being charged a 1 night penalty, you must change your reservation before June 1st at 11:59 pm, local park time. Doing so, you will only be charged the non-refundable change fee ($11.50 for changes made online or $13.50 for changes made by phone). Changes To Permit Holders

The reservation holder may change the name and/or contact information of the permit holder (camper) listed for a reservation anytime before your arrival at the park. There is no charge associated with this.

Reservations cannot be resold at anytime, and will be rendered void if resold.

Doing so, you will receive a full refund less the original non-refundable reservation fee ($11.50 for reservations made online or $13.50 for reservations made by phone) and the cancellation fee ($11.50 for cancellations made online or $13.50 for cancellations made by phone). If you cancel between June 2nd and July 1st, you will receive a full refund less the original non-refundable reservation fee ($11.50 for reservations made online or $13.50 for reservations made by phone), the cancellation fee ($11.50 for cancellations made online or $13.50 for cancellations made by phone), plus the fees for the first night of camping.

Late Arrivals

  1. Will you be arriving late? While campers may check-in to their group campsite as early as 2 pm, most campgrounds accept arrivals throughout the evening and even overnight.

Closures

  1. Closures: If Parks Canada must close a campsite or a campground for any reason, including your safety, all affected reservations will be cancelled and reservation holders will be refunded all fees paid, including service fees. We will do our best to provide you with as much notice as possible in these situations.

Visitors who wish to reserve a campsite after a closure is lifted, including those whose reservation was cancelled due to the closure, should make a new reservation as normal.

Visitors choosing to change or cancel their reservation when no closure has been officially announced or imposed by Parks Canada are subject to the regular fees as outlined in the Reservation Policies.
Random Draw for Lake O’Hara Day Use Bus

Due to the overwhelming popularity of day-use bus reservations to Lake O’Hara, Yoho National Park has instituted a random draw process for assigning reservations.

Application Process

  • People looking to obtain a day-use bus reservation for Lake O’Hara may apply during the random draw application period, from 8 am March 11 until 11:59 pm March 31 MDT
  • Applications are only accepted online at Parks Canada Reservations
  • For each application you make, there is a non-refundable fee of $10 (taxes included)
  • An application to the Lake O’Hara day-use bus random draw allows you to choose your party size and select up to 6 different in-bound bus dates and times, in order of preference and based on the flexibility of your schedule

Selection Process

  • A selection period will begin shortly after the application period has closed
    • During this time, applications will be selected at random and have their first choice compared against the available inventory
    • If your choice can be accommodated, you will be provided a temporary reservation (offer)
  • If your first choice cannot be accommodated (example: you’ve requested 5 seats on the 8:30 am bus on July 10, but there are only 2 seats remaining), then your other choices will be assessed in order of preference
  • A randomly selected application can only result in a temporary reservation if there are enough seats remaining to accommodate your party size
    • To maximize your chances, it is important to apply for only as many seats as you really need
  • If none of your bus choices can be accommodated, your application will be unsuccessful
  • During the selection period, new draws take place daily
    • Applicants who succeed in getting a temporary reservation will be notified as soon as their application is drawn
    • Unsuccessful applicants will be notified at the end of the selection period
    • Applicants will be notified about the status of their random draw application by email, using the email address listed on their Parks Canada Reservation Service account

Temporary Reservations

  • Applicants who succeed in getting a temporary reservation will have 14 days from the date their application is drawn to sign in to their Parks Canada Reservation Service account and claim their reservation
    • Claiming a reservation will require payment of the required reservation fee and day-use bus fee for each person in their group
  • Any temporary reservations that are not claimed by the deadline indicated in the applicant’s confirmation email will expire
    • An expired offer can no longer be claimed
  • Successful applicants may also choose to decline their offer if their plans have changed and they no longer wish to claim the reservation
    • No cancellation fee is charged for withdrawing an application before the reservation is claimed
    • The original application fee is not refundable
  • During the selection period, new draws take place daily
    • Inventory previously held for applications which have expired or have been withdrawn may be re-drawn and offered to other applicants

After the Random Draw Process

  • Any inventory not reserved through the random draw process will be made available for standard reservations once the random draw process is complete
  • After the random draw process is complete, reservations, changes and cancellations become available in real-time, like other reservable offers
  • Additional seats may become available throughout the year as plans change and reservations are changed or cancelled
  • Please check back regularly to review availability
